Bedbugs are back. Once considered controlled in North America, the blood sucking insect population is rising. In New York city, there were only two bedbug cases in 2002 rising to 1200 in 2006.These wingless pests are hiding in mattress creases and furniture during the day. And crawl out at night to suck the blood of sleeping folks. The bedbug population rise is attributed to lowered control in the houses and increased international travel. Bedbugs do not kill instead cause panic. Pesticides work if used in right amounts and in proper manner.

Air pollution interferes with rain at high altitudes. Dust particles floating in the air prevent small water molecules to join to become big enough drops only to fall as rain. Pollution is not only blocking the view of high plains and mountains but also reducing the rainfall in the areas.

Honeybees are important indicator of the healthy environment. These insects not only produce honey considered to carry therapeutic effect but also pollinate enhancing agricultural production. The honeybee population in North America has been declining. Ontario in Canada is no exception. Niagara region is feeling the pinch due to lower honey and fruits production. The cause of honeybee disappearance is under investigation. The most likely cause opined by experts at the University of Guelph is the mites. However, others are blaming the genetically modified crops and landfill pollution
